Trek to the Arctic Circle

We left the RV at Santaland RV Park in North Pole, AK and traveled to the Arctic Circle in the Jeep. The round trip journey took 11+ hours and covered 440 miles with most of the miles being on a rough dirt/gravel road known as the James W. Dalton Highway, which is also known as Haul Road. The Dalton Highway was built as a supply road in 1974 to support the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. On the way to the Arctic Circle we stopped at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline Visitor Center near Fox, AK. to view the pipeline up close and see the exhibits. It was a long, but very enjoyable day. We didn’t see any critters on the journey, but the scenery was beautiful.
